Web Excursions are select bookmarks from my travels around the interwebs, because I'm always thinking about you while discovering other people's cool stuff. You mean that much to me. You can see all of my (public) bookmarks on my LinkDing, and visit the bookmarks archive for curated lists across the last few years.

Practical sits on top of Calendar and Reminders on your Mac: your next meeting counts down in the menu bar, ⌘J joins the call, its docs open on your iPhone too, and a missed reminder stays on today until it’s done. €40 once. Your calendar never leaves your Mac.
The niftiest feature is being able to type something about a reminder, say, “push 2 hours”, and have it adjust for you. Plus, drop in a screenshot of a ticker or invite and have the event fill in automaticall.
Riff is an iPhone calendar you navigate by zooming. The same calendar goes from half a year to your day, hour by hour. And it is as direct as paper: hold a free slot, type the title, done.

Discover music by place. Explore genres, artists and musical traditions on MuGlobe’s interactive world map, listen to recordings and read their stories.
This is so cool. Drag the globe around to pinpoint a region and get a playlist of current music for that area, with “more info” that breaks down the common genres and styles for that region. Check the “? Help” button for all the tricks.
Shotbolt is a screenshot and screen recording app for Mac. Change any arrow or note after you save, and find any screenshot by a word in it. Free, no account.
There’s a $9.99 (sale price) one-time purchase to unlock Pro. The coolest feature that sets it apart is its ability to OCR tables and convert them to TSV. That’s always been a sticking point for screen capture OCR apps for me.
